Captive

The collection of Captive photos is from an album found of Tabriz prisoners in the 1940-1960’swhose owner, who seems to be a prison guard in Tabriz, regularly archived the photos of the prisoners of those years, sometimes with their names and crimes. This album, which contains photos of women, children and men in various age groups, is an amazing portrait of people who were in front of a camera that divided their lives into before and after. And more surprisingly, the portraits are among the first photographs of prisoners in those years which was recorded and leaked.
Regardless of the intention of the collector in those years, the portraits have extraordinary features in terms of documentary photography and portraiture, which can be better understood after photographing and collage by Nasser Bakhshi. These portraits, which by themselves contain small and large and even obscure points of the history of society and art from a social political point of view, and especially the genre of social documentary portrait photography, which is kept in the archive museum, the upcoming collection which is made of several collections. Some of these works are presented in the form of boxes with printed copies.
